Joel Gustave Nana
AMSHeR: Executive Director
Mr. Nana is a human rights advocate with extensive experience on health and human rights issues at national and international levels. Mr Nana's experience spans several African countries including the DRC, Malawi, Senegal, and South Africa in addition to his native Cameroon. In addition to the various African languages Mr Nana expresses himself in, he is also fluent in English and French. Mr. Nana is a holder of an LLM (Masters) in International Human Rights Law.

Thembi Tshabalala
AMSHeR: Head of Operations and Finance
Thembi’s passion is working on poverty alleviation programs and health orientated initiatives.Thembi has wide experience in project management, and has worked in the areas of poverty alleviation, health (including HIV/AIDS) as well as community development programs. Her areas of expertise include donor funding, administration and implementation of BEE codes. Previously she has worked as a Senior Office Manager for the University of the Witwatersrand and in the NGO sector in various capacities dealing with grant- making, information and marketing and has occupied senior management positions.

Mtinkheni Agness Munthali
AMSHeR: Intern
Mtinkheni is originally from Malawi but for the past 12 years has lived and studied in Swaziland as well as Mozambique. She now resides in South Africa. She has a degree in Development Studies and a Honours Degree in Public Management and Governance from the university of Johannesburg. She is very passionate about Human Rights.

Tendai T Thondhlana
AMSHeR: Intern
Tendai is a Zimbabwean citizen now residing in South Africa. His own experiences growing up in his home nation where LGBTI people are discriminated and stigmatized ignited a strong desire to defend and advocate for human rights, in particular those of the LGBTI community. He recently graduated with a degree from the University of Fort Hare.

Thabani Khazi
AMSHeR: Performance Management Officer
Thabani is originally from KZN and believes that capacity building empowers people. He has worked in the NGO sector for the past six years. His main focus has been Monitoring and Evaluation, dealing with HIV/AIDS and OVC programming. He is passionate about community development and holds various qualifications, which include Communication Science, Financial and Project Management. His work experience includes having contributed to a major Impact Study and achieving 100% clean audit, twice for a Routine Data Quality Audit conducted at an NGO he worked for.

Kene C. Esom
AMSHeR: Policy Coordinator: Law and Human Rights
Kene is a Barrister-at-Law and holds a Master of Law [LL.M] in Human Rights and Democratisation in Africa from the Centre for Human Rights, University of Pretoria. Kene has been involved in providing legal aid and advocacy for various marginalized communities including unaccompanied/separated children, refugees and asylums, survivors of sexual and gender-based violence and sexual minorities. Prior to his career as a human rights lawyer, Kene had stints in criminal law practice and the military. He is involved in the academia and has authored a number of journal articles.
